Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Isidora.
Saint Isidora lived in the 4th century AD and she was among the first Fools-for-Christ.
It is reported that Saint Pityrun visited the monastery where Isidore was a nun in order to find the one who brought a halo, as the Lord had indicated to him. While all the nuns were before him, Saint Pityrun did not see the halo in any of them. When he asked if anyone was missing from the gathering, the nuns mentioned Isidora to him, informing him of her condition.
When Saint Isidora arrived, Saint Pitiroun discerned the halo and knelt before her.
Troparion of Saint Isidora
In you the image was preserved with exactness, O Mother, / for taking up your cross, you followed after Christ. / By so doing, you taught us to disregard the flesh, for it passes away, / but to care instead for the soul, since it is immortal. / Therefore, most venerable Mother Isidora your spirit rejoices with the Angels.
