Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Photine the Samaritan Woman.
Saint Photine came from Samaria and was a sinful woman until she met Jesus Christ outside Jacob's well.
There, it was revealed to her that the Lord is "The Water of Life", which led to her repentence of her previous actions. She decided to be baptized a Christian with the name "Foteini" and, in the following years, she taught the Gospel with zeal and according to reports she was martyred under Nero, along with her sisters and children.
Apolytikion of Saint Photine the Samaritan Woman
All illumined by the Holy Spirit, thou didst drink with great and ardent longing of the waters Christ Saviour gave unto thee; and with the streams of salvation wast thou refreshed, which thou abundantly gavest to those athirst. O Great Martyr and true peer of Apostles, Photine, entreat Christ God to grant great mercy unto us.
