Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Moses the Prophet.
Moses the Prophet was born in Egypt and his mother, to save him from the Pharaoh's decree that required the death of every newborn boy, left him in a basket in the Nile River.
A Pharaoh's daughter found him and raised him as a prince. At the age of forty, after accidentally killing an Israelite, he fled to the land of Midian and became a shepherd. During those years, God appeared to him and entrusted him with the great task of saving the Israelites from the Pharaohs.
After the Plague's of Egypt, the Israelites followed him and Moses made sure with his miracles to protect and preserve them. In their wanderings to the land of Canaan, the Prophet Moses received and delivered to them the "Ten Commandments" to determine their faith.
