Handmade Byzantine Icon of Panagia the Platytera Enthroned. Panagia is depicted holding the young Jesus Christ in her lap.
Traditionally, Panagia Platytera is depicted in the dome above the altar, facing down to the congregation. Her name, Platytera, means More Spacious Than Heavens and symbolizes her ability to contain within her the creator of the world and, also, all the humanity.
The Icon of Panagia Platytera Enthroned is created using the technique of goldprinting while its background consists of hagiographic leaves of 22 carat gold which are applied in detail.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
