Handmade Byzantine Icon of Panagia "Of the Myrtle Tree" with Jesus Christ.
According to tradition, the miraculous Icon of Panagia "Of the Myrtle Tree" was found on the island of Kythira, in the 13th century, in a place overgrown with myrtles, hence the name that it bears. Panagia appeared through a vision to a shepherd and indicated to him the spot where the Icon was.
Then, at the place where the Icon was found, a Church dedicated to Panagia "Of the Myrtle Tree" and her miracles was built.
The Icon of Panagia "Of the Myrtle Tree" is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
