Handmade Byzantine Icon with Panagia of Dion.
The miraculous Icon of Panagia of Dion, although it is kept in the Holy Monastery of Estavromenou in Pessada, belongs to the small Church of the rock island of Dias (Zeus), which is located on the southwest side of Kephallenia.
Every summer, on the day of the feast of Panagia of Dion, the icon is moved to its original position and a litany takes place in the presence of the residents, who arrive in boats.
The Icon of Panagia of Dion is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
