Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Methodius, Hieromartyr, Bishop of Patara.
Saint Methodius lived in the 6th century AD and stood out for his theological and philosophical education. Realizing his enlightenment, the faithful elected him Bishop of Patara to guide the flock and protect it from the unbelievers.
Saint Methodius' faith remained steadfast throughout the years he fought against heresies, and this angered the Roman emperor of the time, who ordered his beheading. Nevertheless, the pastoral work of Saint Methodius continued to inspire the church community and become a point of reference for future generations.
Troparion
Your blood cries out to God from the earth like that of Abel, / divinely-wise holy hierarch, Methodius. / You openly preached the Incarnation of God, / putting the heresy of Origen to shame. / You were translated to the heavenly bridal chamber: / Pray to Christ God that our souls may be saved.
The Icon of Saint Methodius is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
