Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Maura, the Martyr.
Saint Maura together with her husband, Timotheos, lived in Egypt following the Word of God. When the pagans reported them to the local prefect Arrian, they were asked to hand over all their Christian books and deny their faith.
As the two did not want to deny Jesus Christ, they suffered severe torture and in the end, they were crucified together.
On the island of Lefkada there is a church in honor of Saint Maura and every year a multitude of believers flock to receive the blessing of the patron saint of the island.
Apolytikion of Martyrs Timotheos and Maura
To Timothy let us faithful render homage today together with Maura, his fellow contestant and wife, that most faithful bride of Christ, lauding their brave steadfastness; for by crucifixion they followed with longing in the steps of their Master, Who nailed the sins of all to the Cross when He was slain for us.
The Icon of Saint Maura is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
