Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Matthias the Apostle.
Saint Matthias the Apostle was one of the faithful followers of Jesus Christ. After the hanging of Judas and the Ascension of the Lord, the Apostle Peter advised the other Disciples to elect a new disciple to help them in their noble work. The Disciples accepted and chose two candidates, Joseph called Varsavas and Matthias. The casting of the lots appointed Matthias to be one of the Disciples.
Saint Matthias the Apostle spread the work of God, like the rest of the Apostles, and died a martyr's death in Ethiopia.
O Holy Apostle Matthias, / intercede with the merciful God / to grant our souls forgiveness of transgressions.
The Icon of Saint Matthias the Apostle is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
