Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Mary Magdalen, the Myrrh-Bearer.
Saint Mary Magdalen came from Magdala in Galilee and met Jesus Christ when He healed her of the demons that were tormenting her.
To show her faith and devotion, Saint Mary Magdalen became one of the female followers of Jesus Christ and discipled beside him until His Crucifixion. Before the Resurrection of the Lord, she was the first to arrive at the tomb with perfumes.
Our Church honors Saint Mary Magdalen as Myrrh-bearer and Isapostole.
Apolytikion of Saint Mary Magdalen
When Christ God had been born for our sakes from the Virgin, thou faithfully didst follow him, keeping His statutes and heeding His sacred laws, O august Mary Magdalene. Hence, as we today observe thy holy remembrance, we receive the loosing of our sins and transgressions through thy holy prayers for us.
The Icon of Saint Mary Magdalen is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
