Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Theodore the Confessor, Abbot of the Studion.
Saint Theodore the Confessor, Abbot of the Studion, also known as Stoudites, was born in 759 AD in Constantinople to a pious family. He became a monk at the Monastery of Sakkoudion, and then its abbot, but after some years he was exiled to Thessaloniki, as he objected to the marriage of King Constantine VI.
Upon his return, he became abbot of the Monastery of Studium, until his second exile. On his return, Saint Theodore was exiled for the third time by Leo the Fifth, because he was in favor of restoring the Icons.
He died peacfully in 826 AD and was at first buried in the Princes' Islands and then in the Monastery of Studium.

The Icon of Saint Theodore the Confessor, Abbot of the Studion is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
