Handmade Byzantine Icon of the Annunciation of Theotokos.
The Icon depicts the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary as it happened when the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and announced to her that she would give birth to the Son of God, Jesus Christ. She, without any hesitation, answered: "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word" and upon her response, the Angel departed.
Apolytikion
Today marks the crowning of our salvation and the revelation of the mystery before all ages. For the Son of God becomes the son of the Virgin, and Gabriel proclaims the grace. Wherefore, we also cry out with him, "Hail, O full of grace, the Lord is with you."
