Handmade Byzantine Icon of Lamentation.
The Lamentation is sung during the Easter season to praise the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In essence, a glorious event is glorified, the victory over death for all mankind.
That is why the well-known Stases that it includes, such as "Life in (the) tomb", "All the generations" and "Oh, My Sweet Springtime" , which praise the Passion of Jesus Christ and his Works, show awe to His face and not just sorrow.
Passage from First Stasis "Life in (the) tomb"
In a grave they laid Thee,
yet, O Christ Thou art Life,
and the armies of the angels beheld amazed, giving glory that Thou chose to condescend.
How, O Life, dost Thou die?
How dost Thou dwell entombed,
Who hast slashed through all the bonds in the realm of death, and hast raised the dead in Hades from their graves.
The Icon of Lamentation is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
