Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou.
Saint Irene Xrysovalantou came from Cappadocia but ended up in Constantinople as, due to her youthful beauty, she was destined to be the bride of Emperor Michael.
However, Saint Irene at an early age had decided to follow a monastic life and despite the objections of her father, Filaretos, he was the one to finally led her to the women's Monastery of Xrysovalantou, in Constantinople.
With the gift given to her by God, Saint Irene Chrysovalantou performed many miracles and helped both the Monastery, in which she was Abbess until her death, and the visitors who came to her for enlightenment.
Apolytikion
Not a temporal kingdom on earth didst thou obtain, but Christ, thy most comely Bridegroom, vouchsafed thee heavenly crowns, and thou reignest as a queen with Him eternally; for thou didst dedicate thyself unto Him with all thy soul, O Irene, our righteous Mother, thou boast of Chrysovalantou, and mighty help of all the Orthodox.
The Icon of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
