Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Barbara, the Great Martyr.
In her time, Saint Barbara was considered very beautiful and, because of this, her father kept her locked in a tower. But when he perceived her faith, he handed her over to the Roman Prefect who, after trying to force her to deny her faith, subjected her to severe torture.
Her final punishment was beheading, which her pagan father was ordered to commit, which he did. Right after the heinous crime, a bolt of lightning killed him as Divine Punishment.
Let us honor the holy Barbara for, with the aid of the Cross as her weapon, she crushed the snares of the enemy, and was rescued from them like a bird.
O noble Champion, following God who is reverently praised in Trinity, you abandoned the temples of idols. Struggling amid suffering, O Barbara, you were not overwhelmed by the threats of the tyrants, O brave One, even singing aloud, "I worship the Trinity, the one Godhead."
The Icon of Saint Barbara, the Great Martyr is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
