Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary.
Saint Anne came from the tribe of Levi and was the mother of the Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Jesus Christ. The name "Anne" comes from the corresponding Hebrew "Hanna" which has the meaning of "favour" and "grace".
After the Presentation of the Virgin Mary to the Temple, when Anne together with her husband Joachim left the young Mary in the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem, she dedicated her life to God, with fasting and prayer. To her fellow human beings she was philanthropic and showed charity to those who needed her.
Troparion of Saint Anne
Since you were righteous under the law of grace, O Joachim and Anna,
For our sake you gave birth to the God-given Infant.
The divine Church today therefore feasts radiantly,
Joyfully celebrating your honorable memory and giving glory to God Who has raised up a horn of salvation from the house of David!
The Ιcon of Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
