Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Ariadne.
Saint Ariadne was a Christian servant in the city of Promisia. When her master, Tertullus, learned of her faith, he demanded that she renounce it and embrace paganism.
Saint Ariadne's refusal angered Tertullus, who ordered her torture. After skinning her, she was released, but her master continued to pursue her. Afraid of her fate, Saint Ariadne prayed to God to protect her.
Her prayer was heeded and a nearby rock opened to welcome her inside. Her pursuers were exterminated by Angels with spears.
Troparion of Saint Ariadne
Your lamb Ariadne calls out to You, O Jesus, in a loud voice: / "I love You, my Bridegroom, and in seeking You I endure suffering. / In baptism I was crucified so that I might reign in You, / and I died so that I might live with You. / Accept me as a pure sacrifice, / for I have offered myself in love." / Through her prayers save our souls, since You are merciful.
The Icon of Saint Ariadne is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
