Handmade Byzantine Icon of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple.
The Presentation of Theotokos to the Temple is one of the biggest feasts of our church. It is the entry of Mary at the age of three into the Temple where her parents, Joachim and Anna, handed her over to the High Priest Zacharias, who knew her future role in the salvation of the world. Zacharias blessed her saying, "It is in you that He has glorified your name in every generation. It is in you that He will reveal the Redemption that He has prepared for His people in the last days."
Mary remained in the Temple under the protection of the Archangel Gabriel and left when the time of the Annunciation had come.
Apolytikion
Today is the prelude of God's pleasure and the proclamation of man's salvation. The Virgin is clearly made manifest in the temple of God and foretells Christ to all. Let us also cry out to her with mighty voice, "Hail, fulfillment of the Creator's dispensation."
Kontakion
Today, the most pure temple of the Savior, the precious bridal chamber and Virgin, the sacred treasure of God, enters the house of the Lord, bringing the grace of the Divine Spirit. The Angels of God praise her. She is the heavenly tabernacle.
The Icon of the Presentation of Theotokos to the Temple is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
