Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Eugenia.
Saint Eugenia was originally from Rome, but as her father was sent as prefect to Alexandria, she grew up with her family there. She received a wide education and when she once read the letters of the Apostle Paul, she was moved by his words.
Refusing to marry the Roman official Aquilina desired by her parents, Saint Eugenia left her home in male guise. She was baptized a Christian and then began her monastic life.
After several years she returned to her family, who received her with great joy. They all converted to Christianity, but the pagans killed her father while beheading Saint Eugenia in Rome.
Troparion of Saint Eugenia
Inspired by the Divine Spirit, you sang the praises of God, / receiving the light of divine knowledge, O Eugenia, Christ's beautiful virgin. / You shone forth in the choirs of monastics, / and in your contest you triumphed over the Enemy. / O glorious Martyr, entreat Christ God to grant us great mercy.
The Icon of Saint Eugenia is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
