Handmade Byzantine Icon of Daniel the Prophet.
The Prophet Daniel was descended from the tribe of David and in 605 the Babylonians captured him and held him as a hostage. Nevertheless, he received a great education and became a counselor at the court of King Nabuchodonosor.
With his prophetic gift he gained fame and won the confidence of the king, whom the Prophet Daniel warned of the end of his rule.
When Cyrus became the king of Babylon, the Prophet Daniel remained at the court but because he continued praying to God, the Lord ordered him to be locked in an arena with lions. Miraculously, Daniel exited the arena unharmed.
Troparion of Daniel the Prophet
Great are the accomplishments of faith, / for the Three Holy Youths rejoiced in the source of the flame, as if by restful waters,/ and the Prophet Daniel appeared as a shepherd of lions as of sheep. / By their prayers, O Christ God, save our souls.
The Icon of Daniel the Prophet is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
