Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Stamatios.
Saint Stamatios lived in the 17th century in the village of Agios Georgios of Pelion, where he was born. He was distinguished for his loyalty and his reasonableness, which is why he was a key representative of the group sent from Pelion to the Vizier of Constantinople, so that they could be relieved of the heavy taxes demanded by the agha of the region.
The Vizier refused their request and demanded that they leave. During their persecution, some Turkish officials falsely accused Saint Stamatios of having converted to Mohammedanism but living as a Christian.
Saint Stamatios denied the accusation but this did not stop the Vizier from ordering his torture and beheading.
The Byzantine Icon of Saint Stamatios is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
