Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint George of Ioannina.
Saint George was born in 1808 in Ioannina to a poor family and was orphaned at a young age. Ηe worked as a groom and married to have a family.
In 1836 he was reported to the local lord, with false accusations, that while he had converted to Islam, he was living as a Christian. He was not found guity for this accusation but a few years later the same charge was brought against him.
Saint George once again confessed his true faith, which he never changed, but his accusers were not convinced and ordered his hanging.
The Ecumenical Patriarchate canonized him in 1839.

The Icon of Saint George of Ioannina is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
