Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Sevastianos the Martyrdom.
Saint Sevastianos was born in Milan, Italy and received a Christian education during his upbringing. He was a member of the military and stood out for the mercy he showed to his underprivileged fellow human beings.
During the persecution of Christians, Saint Sevastianos confessed his faith. Emperor Diocletian was enraged by this announcement and condemned him to martyrdom.
The Martyrdom of Saint Sevastianos was to tie him to a tree and shoot him to death with arrows.
Kontakion
Since thou wast great in zeal for godly religion, thou didst assemble an alliance of Martyrs, and in their midst, thou shonest like a flashing star. With the arrows that did pierce thy much-suffering body, thou didst slay the enemy, O Great Martyr Sebastian; and thou thyself didst fly as from a bow into the Heavens, where Christ hath received thy soul.
The Icon of Saint Sevastianos the Martyrdom is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
