Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Charalambos.
Saint Charalambos was a priest of Magnesia in Asia Minor at the time when the Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus, ordered the persecution of Christians. The prefect of Magnesia, Lucianos, then arrested Saint Charalambos and severely tortured him in order to renounce his faith.
But he endured his torture and kept his faith in Christ. Enraged, Lucian ordered him to be dragged across the city and then beheaded. He was martyred at the age of 113.
Apolytikion
O wise Haralambos, you were proven an unshakable pillar of the Church of Christ; an ever-shining lamp of the universe. You shone in the world by your martyrdom. You delivered us from the moonless night of idolatry O blessed one. Wherefore, boldly intercede to Christ that we may be saved.
The Icon of Saint Charalambos is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
