Handmade Byzantine Icon of Philip the Apostle.
Philip the Apostle came from Bethsaida in Galilee. There, he met Jesus Christ, who said to him: "Follow me". Philip followed Him without hesitation and became one of His disciples and one of the Twelve Apostles.
Philip the Apostle was enlightened by the Holy Spirit and dedicated himself to the missionary work, through which he managed to preach the Gospel in distant places.
In Hierapolis, Syria, he was captured by pagans and suffered horrific torture and crucifixion, which led to his death in 87 AD.
