Hanging Vigil Candles

Handmade hanging vigil candles in various styles according to Byzantine tradition and Orthodox culture. The word candle comes from the Latin word "candela" which means wax candle.

In the Christian church, the candle is placed in front of the sacred icons or in the iconostasis of the house and is lit every day, according to the Orthodox tradition. Candles represent the light of God or Christ and are lit as a sign of remembrance or to accompany prayer.

Our catalog includes hanging vigil candles made of brass with a choice of nickel plating, gilding or silver plating. They have carved details all over their surface and some are decorated with enamel.
