Temples

The Temple is a wooden or marble structure which separates the main church and the Holy Step with three gates, the Central or Royal Doors and the North and the South or the Deacons's Doors.

After the Iconoclasm, the hitherto low Temple evolved into the high Temple as we know it today, with large icons placed next to each other. In particular, at the top of the Temple is the icon of Christ, the Virgin Mary, St. John the Baptist, the Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the icon of the Patron Saint of the temple.

Its symbolism is attributed to the Christian continuity by the veil of the Temple in Jerusalem which was torn by the death of Christ.

The Ecclesiastical Temples of our collection are wood-carved constructions, with elaborate designs of the Christian faith and tradition. They are carved with detail and dexterity to decorate any Holy Temple.

"...I'm glad I asked...I thought the icon looked like the picture on your website, with the framed appearance...I will place the order today and again, thank you for your patience. I will ask you one last request... please ask the iconographer to make this his most beautiful work...as it is in memory of a beautiful person. It has been hard to decide on something that means so much, without seeing it in person...but you have been most helpful. I would like to remind you that we would need the icon by April 10th, so that it can be put in the church for Orthodox Good Friday. Lastly, since I will probably not be gracing your daily e-mails anymore...I want to say it was nice conversing with you and I wish you well. ..."
