"Lighten a Church" is a service that brings together Priests or Parish Council Officers who need goods and facilities for their Church that can not afford to acquire and Donators that are willing to support. The service gives the ability to our site visitors to donate to Churches with specific contributions that the corresponding Priests have previously selected.

The service utilises the World Orthodox Directory to publish the Church needs. The Directory currently includes more than 10.000 entries. For each Church in the Directory there is a Need-list in which the responsible Priest can add goods that needs to have for the Church. On the other hand, OramaWorld Visitors that wish to support, can use the Directory to find the Church they are interested to help, browse the Church Need-list and if they decide to donate to move items from the Church Need-list to their Shopping Carts and purchase them for the Church.

Moreover, for each Visitor there is a personal "My Churches" List that can be filled with Churches from the Directory that you would like to be affiliated with specific affiliation level. The levels with the corresponding services that can choose to have for each Church in the "My Churches" list are shown below:

Willing to receive News for the Church from the Priest(s) or the Parish Council Officer

- Supporter
As above plus...
Willing to lighten/support the Church and to receive email when there is an update for the Church Need-list

- Donator
All as above plus...
Has already lightened/supported the Church

- Patron
All as above plus...
Repeatedly lightens/supports the Church

- Priest or Parish Council Officer
Is the Administrator of the Church Information, News & Need-list

The Churches Need-lists are updated by the Priests or Parish Council Officers and may be found through links from the Church official website.
