On 20th of December 2004, OramaWorld contributed to the Greek Hemophilia Society, member of the World Federation of Hemophilia.

Organisation: Greek Hemophilia Society
Description:  The Greek Hemophilia Society (GHS) was established in Athens in 1964 on the initiative of Greek physicians specialized in the treatment of hemophilia. It currently has about 556 members out of a total approximately 770 people with Hemophilia in Greece.

The main aims of the GHS are:
  • to promote the availability and accessibility of the highest possible standard of treatment for all Greek people with hemophilia,
  • to motivate and facilicate the full participation of its members in all sectors of social life,
  • to help maintain the psycho-social well-being of its members,
  • to enhance the employment opportunities of the Greek people with hemophilia.

    The GHS is a member of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) (since 1965) and of the European Haemophilia Consortium (since 1989). It is founding member of the National Confederation of Disable People "N.C.D.P". (since 1988).

    Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder characterized by severe, spontaneous bleeding that affects an estimated 400,000 people worldwide.

    The World Federation of Hemophilia is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to introducing, improving, and maintaining care for people with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders around the world.
