Byzantine Hand Painted Icon of Saint Joachim the Forefather.
Saint Joachim was the father of the Virgin Mary and the forefather of Christ. He was from the tribe of Judah and married Anna, who was from the tribe of Levi and Mary. Together they lived a humble life and were blessed with giving birth to the Virgin Mary.
It is said that Saint Joachim died eight years after the Entry of Theotokos Into the Temple, in old age.
